Kenneth S. Cohen, M.A., M.S.Th.
Kenneth Cohen, executive director of the Qigong Research & Practice Center (www.qigonghealing.com), has studied qigong, Taijiquan, and various other Chinese martial arts for forty years. Originally trained by William C. C. Chen (teaching certificate: 1974), B.P. Chan, and Madame Gao Fu, he was also chief apprentice to Daoist Abbott Huang Gengshi of Xiqiao, Guangzhou (Canton). Mr. Cohen is the author of The Way of Qigong: The Art and Science of Chinese Energy Healing (Ballantine Books, 1997), numerous audio and DVD courses, and more than 200 journal articles. In 2003, he won the Alyce and Elmer Green Award for Innovation and Lifetime Achievement, the leading international award in energy medicine.
S. Biron Ebell, M.A.
Mr. Ebell received his Master of Arts degree in Anthropology/Archaeology from the University of Manitoba in 1980. In 2005, he retired from Parks Canada after 20 years service as an archaeologist and heritage interpreter. He has studied Kodokan judo since 1963, and currently practices at the University of Manitoba, studying kata and teaching beginners. He is a 5th dan.
Lance Gatling, M.A., M.P.S.
Lance Gatling is a retired U.S. Army northeast Asia political-military affairs officer, engineer, and former State Department Foreign Service officer. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, he holds master’s degrees from Western Kentucky University and the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School. Resident in Tokyo, Japan, for over 20 years, he is an aerospace consultant to the Japanese Government and commercial companies. He now has black-belt rankings in and practices Nihon jujutsu, Kodokan judo, and jodo. He is a member of the International Martial Arts Federation, the Japan Academy of Martial Arts, and the Shudokan Martial Arts Association. Fluent in written and spoken Japanese, he collects and researches prewar Japanese martial arts and military history texts.
Manouchehr Moshtagh Khorasani, Dip. Anglist
Manouchehr Moshtagh Khorasani majored in English linguistics and Business Administration and minored in Spanish from the University of Giessen, the University of Wisconsin, and Universidad de Salamanca. He is a specialist in the arms and armor of the Middle East with a special emphasis on Iranian arms and armor. Moshtagh Khorasani is an instructor in iaijutsu and kenjutsu, with high ranks also in full-contact karate, Nam Wa Pai, Kungfu Toa, and has an extensive experience in international martial arts competitions.
